The huge urns on the remote "Plain of Jars" took 19 hours to reach by truck in the pitch dark on a "road" that was in reality thigh deep mud.
You can make up your own mind as to if it was worth the trip. HIgh points of the truck ride from hell were synchronised urinating off of a moving truck (Lao and foreigner alike) and losing a Japanese person off of the back of the truck at 01:30 in the morning.........
